Lethbridge Hurricanes Change Logo
The WHL's Lethbridge Hurricanes unveiled their new logo on Thursday, several months after it was reported that the NHL and Washington Capitals insisted that the club must change it due to similarities with the Caps' logo.
NHLPA Twitter account thanks Washington Capitals owner for following them
@TedLeonsis thanks for the follow. What a difference a year makes. pic.twitter.com/r9dhVJiC82

A year ago things looked pretty dire for the NHL. Hell, even six months ago there were serious questions about whether or not there was going to be a season. The NHLPA gained a follow from Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis and thanked him publicly...
For now, it’s a rumor, but Sergei Fedorov *could* lace up his skates for CSKA Moscow one last time
When former Red Wings forward Sergei Fedorov took the reins as the general manager of CSKA Moscow last summer, the plan was to get Fedorov into the uniform of his first professional hockey team for at least a game or two so that the 43-year-old could bid farewell to the game on the ice...
But the NHL lockout changed that, and as CSKA's shaking up its coaching and management...

Jeff Schultz wants a trade from the Washington Capitals
Jeff Schultz is seeking a new home in the NHL. The Washington Examiner reports that the defenseman has requested a trade from the Washington Capitals, according to his agent. The report from the Examiner states that Schultz is frustrated by a lack of playing time over the last couple seasons and by poor communication with Washington's coaching staff.
Jarrett Bousquet, the...
I’m afraid people are dreaming when it comes to Alexander Ovechkin & the Washington Capitals.
I’m afraid you’re dreaming….Alexander Ovechkin will need much more than Mike Ribeiro to help him score 50 goals next season, recent successes notwithstanding. NHL coaches are copy cats. They saw how effective John Tortorella’s tight checking scheme stifled Alex offensively and that won’t be lost on other coaches around the league, trust me.
What Alexander will need going...
Caps' Jeff Schultz Requests a Trade
According to Katie Carrera at the Washington Post, Caps defenseman Jeff Schultz has requested the team trade him. That turn of events is of little surprise to anyone. Schultz's game plays have significantly reduced over the past three years, having played in 72 games in 2010-11, reduced to 54 in 2011-12, and to 26 in 2012-13.
According to Carrera, Schultz complained...
Alexander Ovechkin could score 50 next season
Washington Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin didn’t a whole lot done against the tight checking he saw during the playoffs. But his strong finish to the regular season suggests Ovechkin could score 50 goals during the full 2013-14 campaign. His adjustment to right wing wasn’t easy, but he finally bought what coach Adam Oates was selling. He settled in on the other side of the ice...
Capital fans, PLEASE take off your friggin’ rose-tinted glasses and LOOK at what you’re dealing with here.
Cap fans, PLEASE take off your friggin’ rose-tinted glasses and LOOK at what you’re dealing with here. As I’ve said elsewhere, George McPhee is one of the stupidest GM’s in sports. He makes some mystifyingly dumb personnel decisions–the latest one involved surrendering a talented, 21 year old forward with size (Phillip Forsberg) for a 31 year old retread who hadn’t scored...
Will the Washington Capitals Ever Win a Stanley Cup?
Capital Disappointment Photo via DC Sports Bog The question has to be asked. As a life long Washington Capitals fan, I have to say this team frustrates me as much or more than my beloved Washington Redskins. The Washington Capitals always seem to be a regular season team that just can not win in the playoffs. For thirty years the Caps have always failed to live up to expectations...

Ovechkin blames refs for ugly loss?
The Capitals were eliminated from the playoffs courtesy of a 5-0 Game 7 blowout loss to the Rangers and Alexander Ovechkin subtly blamed the NHL and the refs.

Tom Wilson loses skate blade, crawls to bench
If it weren’t for those ill-fated contests at intermission that invite fans down onto the ice for this or that, we’d likely forget just how slippery an everyday rink is. Capitals right wing Tom Wilson found out the hard way Sunday when he was suddenly stuck with just one blade to try to work himself around the ice. Wilson had just laid a hit when the blade of his left skate popped...
Tom Wilson loses skate blade and stumbles to bench (Video)
Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson had some equipment trouble during Sunday's playoff game against the New York Rangers, which was only Wilson's second career NHL game. After delivering a huge flying hit to Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh, Wilson lost his skate blade on his left skate, then stumbled several times while trying to get back to the bench with only one skate...
Someone Unplugged Alex Ovechkin’s Controller (GIF)
Washington Capitals fans surely can’t be happy with Alex Ovechkin’s hustle on the play pictured above where the Rangers scored a goal. For someone who said the Rangers don’t like to play physical, Ovechkin sure is getting in there and mixing it up on that play. But this GIF is just hilarious. It is about as perfect a GIF as you can get: Unless of course you are a Caps fan...

Capitals defenseman blocks shot with his face
Washington Capitals defenseman Steven Oleksy took a puck to the face when he went down on a knee to block a shot by New York Rangers center Derick Brassard during Thursday night's Game 1 of their NHL Eastern Conference playoff series at the Verizon Center. Oleksy does not wear a mask, so he took the shot directly on the side of his face near the cheek and jaw. Fortunately,...
