Bleacher Report heeds warning to Falcons with 1 sentence
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

For the first time in years, there’s reason to believe the Falcons won’t be a total disappointment this season.

With Kirk Cousins in the fold, Raheem Morris has a better team in his first year as head coach than Arthur Smith ever did during his time in Atlanta. With better circumstances comes greater expectations, and Morris is expected to help the Falcons to their first postseason berth since 2017.

Atlanta hasn’t seen a playoff game since 2016, Mercedes-Benz Stadium has never seen a Falcons postseason contest, and 2024 has a chance to be a great year for the city and franchise.

However, Bleacher Report is offering a sentence of advice, heeding a warning to Falcons fans. Don’t buy into your own hype, because doing so can be deadly.”

I think cautious optimism among Falcons fans is appropriate. As currently constructed, this roster isn’t necessarily capable of winning a Super Bowl. The defense needs bolstering, but fans should be excited.

This is the first season where hope isn’t misplaced. Last year, we were forced to put our faith in a third-round pick in Desmond Ridder. This year, Kirk Cousins, a proven commodity, will shoulder the Falcons faithful.

There’s no reason to expect something unrealistic like a 14-win season en route to the organization’s first Super Bowl victory, as Bleacher Report seemingly believes Falcons fans think.

But fans do have the right to be confident in the team Terry Fontenot has put together thus far. It’s okay to be a little outspoken about your team.
