Turning your first start into an SEC Player of the Week performance is a great start to a career.

Auburn Freshman Center has impressed everyone around him since the day he stepped on campus and being named SEC Freshman of the Week did not surprise anyone within the program.

"Connor is amazing man," Auburn defensive lineman Jayson Jones said. "The progression of his skillset and how smart he's gotten since spring, I've never seen a freshman, especially a freshman offensive lineman do that."

Jones goes up against Lew in practice often and has been impressed with his progression.

"I'm extremely happy for him," Jones said. "The sky's the limit for him. He can be a top-round pick by the end of it."

Lew stepped in for an injured Avery Jones and played a big part in Auburn's offense against Ole Miss. He got the start against Mississippi State.

"I think he's starting to realize that this isn't high school anymore," Jones said. "Everyone's big. Everyone's strong. Everyone's fast. Everyone's twitchy. I think he's starting to realize that.

"I think his technique got a whole lot better. He's starting to anchor down a lot. he's getting smart with protections and with seeing stuff. Obviously, he's a freshman so he messes up from time to time but that just comes with growth."
