Olympic flame goes out while going whitewater rafting (Video)
T-minus 19 days and counting until the opening ceremony officially commences the London Olympics. Meanwhile, the Olympic flame continues to trudge across the UK. For some reason, that journey recently included a whitewater rafting trip at the Lee Valley White Water Centre in Hertfordshire, where canoe slalom will take place during the Games. And it was during said excursion -- you'll never guess this -- the flame was briefly extinguished.
Because they're smart people, Olympic organizers prepared for the not-so-off chance of this happening. So, rather than having to go all the way back to Greece to relight the torch, squandering 50 days of progress, it was re-ignited with a back-up flame. Now that's planning ahead! Onward!
