Forget the caps, they need to bring back the old swimsuits from not so long ago. these rubber looking full bodied suits are just not appealing. Everyone looks exactly the same. And frankly they're just not sexy enough.

For sure those guys looked very sexy in the "Speedos" they used to wear. Buldge me out.

Screw you people criticizing Michael Phelps and Tiger Woods. Before you can say anything, get your ass in the pool or golf course and do better. These men (and all athletes) endured thousands and thousands of hours of pain and suffering, sustained injuries, and virtually sacrificed their growing up years, in order to achieve the place they hold in the Olympic Community. If you didn't notice, Phelps criticism was the absence of the U.S. Flag --it seems that his criticism was coming from a sense of National Pride. And, he of anyone on this planet has the right to criticize anything related to swimming. If those whine-babies who criticize the athletes don't like it, Put up or Shut up. Because you haven't earned the right to say JACK. Having big mouths doesn't give you a passport to say anything you like. You need to back it up. I doubt if you even know how to swim, you were probably running your big mouth during swimming lessons.

Nothing against Phelps or Woods either. They are at the top of their game even on a bad day. I could only dream of being in the same pool or golf course with them, let alone excell like them.
However, the Olympic Committee declared the new rule and the new rule applies to all teams. Not just the US Swim team or Michael Phelps, but ALL COUNTRIES.
Why would they do that? Team Spirit, Pride in Country, Healthy Competition, and Peace Building are the main reasons the modern Olympic Games were revived after being absent for over 1500 years. Does anyone else feel that we as a country are gradually losing our identity? I think if Phelps wants to wear a day-glo orange swim cap he should be allowed to. Uniforms, competion/team suits should be the same.But if a competitor wants to be a little unique,let them go for it. It's all about money, sponsorships, and making everyone the same. What next, our national anthem?

Go wear what ever swim cap you want Phelps, as they will not stop you from swimming. The caps do look cheap and kiddy.

First off I would like to say Michael Phelps is one of my top American hereos! He is also right that they should be allowed to have flags on both sides. I hope he is referring to the Olympic committee for all the games and not the US Olympic committee. Having a flag on each side of the hat should be no big deal!!! That being said however it is really nbot worth getting to upset over. I am so proud pf Phelps and glad he is swimming again in these Olympics. He can not repeat the performance he had before and I hope nobody is expecting him to. We should all be proud he is competing for the US again and proud we also have Ryan Lochte racing against him because they are pushing each other to be the best that they both can be. They are also going to help the medal count alot and that means alot to me and to the US. Also remember China pays their athletes and raises them since young children to have only one task and that is winning the events they are suppossed to so to think that we can still beat them in some things is really nice. China will probably surprise many in the world because they will win some races they have not won before and should not be under estimated. They will probably win the mens long distance swimming although I do not know who they have but thats because they have people whose only job it is in life is to swim long distance and they are given their whold life to do that. We will see but even Michael may be pushed by the Chinese in some events. Also France will be hungry to beat us because we beat them in the last Olympics even though France was favored in some events. Remember Phelps is only human and will lose some events. His status can only go down and will go down when he loses but we should all support him and the rest of the swimmers who are representing the US and all US athletes, I could not be more proud of Phelps and all of our Olypic athletes and I am proud to be an American!!! Lets stay positive and root for them to win win win!!!!

Sigh, I guess none of you have bothered to read the Rules established by FINA -- the international swimming rules body. They very clearly stipulate how many logos and names and other embellishments are permitted on uniforms, caps, etc. Heck, after the World Championships two years ago, they even restricted the types of suits that are permitted.

So, Michael Phelps, suck it up and accept it. You're a big boy now, so stop fretting over the number of flags on the cap and swim for the record.
