LeBron James says Team USA could beat Dream Team
LeBron James is an image-conscious player who tries not to hurt peoples' feelings. That's why when he said that the current Team USA basketball team could beat the 1992 Dream Team, which is considered by many to be one of the best teams of all time, he did so in a respectful manner.
“As a competitor you never want to say that you will lose no matter who you are going against,” James told “Nightline” anchor Cynthia McFadden.
“The ’92 Dream Team paved the way for all of us. They set a standard for the Olympics and basketball in general that's very high.
"We understand what they did for our game, but we also are big-time competitors as well so if we had the opportunity to play them in a game, we feel like we would win too," James said.
LeBron was defending his teammate Kobe Bryant when he said the current Team USA would win. Kobe said a few weeks ago that they could beat the Dream Team, and he reiterated his stance last weekend.
Charles Barkley and Scottie Pippen have predicted an easy win for the Dream Team, while Michael Jordan laughed at Kobe.
Though I feel like the Dream Team would win a series between the two, I agree with Kobe that the current team could win on any given day. The one key would be LeBron and Kobe entering the game with confidence, not intimidation, which they seem to be feeling.

LeBron has also lost his mind. Here's how stupid he and Kobe sound.
Could this year's team even beat an "alternate" team from 1992:
PG: Isiah Thomas, Gary Payton
2G/Wings: Reggie Miller, Reggie Lewis
SF: Dominique Wilkins, James Worthy, Dennis Rodman
PF: Shawn Kemp, Tom Chambers, Chris Webber
C: Shaquille O'Neal, Alonzo Mourning
The answer is "NO!" -
The alternate team is a little behind the current US team because the alternates don't play enough defense. Shaq and Zo were still rookies. Alternates are less athletic so they can't defend the wing players, and not as careful with the ball. Rodman is too one dimensional, Kemp doesn't pass and no post game yet. Miller doesn't play D. Current US team wins in 5 games.
Dream team would still win in 6 games easy. -
Are you kidding? Only position the alternate team would have an advantage is Shaq! None of your starters for the alternate team played much defense. That would be the difference. If you mean one game maybe, but a best of five or seven series no way.

Do you know basketball? Gary Patyon's nickname was the glove for his defense. Reggie Lewis was an excellent defender. Dennis Rodman used to slow down the prime time Jordan and is one of the greatest defenders of all time!. Ask about Alonzo Mourning, a better defender than Shaq. Isiah was on the Piston team known for defense and one of the top in steals.

I thought Kobe was dumb, but LBJ is even dumber. It's like he didn't learn from the decision and wants all the negative attention. If he was smart he kept is mouth shut, or atleast say it's a close and competitive game.
